Description
Arabic Legacy: Arabic 3
On-Demand
The Legacy Institute presents a comprehensively designed 6 term foundational Arabic & then a 2 term Applied Linguistics enrichment Program
Arabic: Easy. Accessible. Attainable.
Program Description and Objectives:
This course is a continuation of our journey in Arabic Legacy.
A program that consists of two roads, one that begins only after the first has come to an end:
1. 6 term foundational Classical Arabic course (18 months)
A course that takes the student from the bare basics of how to greet someone and introduce yourself in Arabic to reading paragraphs.
The main text used is the internationally acclaimed Al-’Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk Series (Second Edition) teaching classical (fusha) Arabic. A curriculum taught in over 1000 institutes across the globe. The instructor is officially licensed by the author of the series to teach the program.
A comprehensive focus on practical application of Nahw (grammar) in real life scenarios while equipping students with all four skills of language learning:
- Reading Comprehension
- Writing
- Speaking
- Listening
Along with Al-’Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk, the student will learn Sarf (Verb Conjugation or Morphology) through a course designed by the instructor.
In the later stages another Arabic grammar text will be introduced and taught alongside Al-’Arabiyyatu Bayna Yadayk.
Students at the end of this course will have studied enough to have comprehension, reading, writing, speaking, and listening foundations in Arabic insha’Allah!
2. 2-term Applied Linguistics Enrichment (6 months)
Upon completing Book 2 with supplementary content in Sarf and Nahw (grammar), the road comes to an end and a second road begins.
We will then offer a 2 term Applied Linguistics Enrichment.
Here we continue with Book 3 in the Arabic series and start to read the tafsir of Juzz Amma through Ibn Juzay’s classic tafsir, Al-Tashil Li Ulum Al-Tanzil, a monumental and foundational tafsir. A focus on the linguistic applications of what has been covered will be emphasized alongside delving into tafsir studies and works of spirituality.
So where does this road lead, what’s our destination?
The speech of our Lord the Quran, the life and practice of our Prophet Muhammad peace be on him, and accessing the Islamic tradition.
Periodically throughout the semesters we will offer students enrichment sessions in Arabic comprehension, accessing resources, and works of spirituality.
What makes this different from other programs?
This is a virtual classroom, not a virtual lecture hall. You have a name and not a number. The instructor will interact with students and ensure that they progress in their Arabic language studies. Dedication as well as nurturing is at the heart of program.
Prerequisites:
- Student must know the Arabic alphabet and be able to read the Quran (tajweed is not a condition)
Who is this course for?
Anyone that fulfills the prerequisite and is driven to learn arabic.
